Daniel Warutere

Acting Director, Market Operations, Capital Markets Authority of Kenya

Daniel Warutere is the Acting Director Market Operations at the Capital Markets Authority of Kenya. He has also served at the Authority as the Senior Manager Approvals, Analysis & Issuer Governance; Manager Market Supervision and Head of Regulatory Framework.His current responsibilities include; providing technical leadership and strategic direction in licensing of market intermediaries and approval of issuers of securities to the public, market supervision, financial analysis and reporting, issuer governance, investigations and enforcement. Daniel has led the team in oversight of pioneer derivatives and commodities exchanges in Kenya. He has been a key driver in the development of policy and formulation of various security markets regulatory frameworks including conduct of business and corporate governance, REITs, securitization, and harmonization of securities regulatory regime in the East African Community. Daniel is an attorney. He holds a Master of Laws degree (International Business Law) from The University of London, a Graduate Certificate in Capital Markets from The George Washington University School of Business and a Bachelor of Laws degree from The University of Nairobi. He is also a qualified accountant (CPA) and company secretary. Daniel is an International Finance Corporation (IFC)-Milken Institute Fellow and a member of the Law Society of Kenya and Institute of Certified Investment and Financial Analysts.
