Mr. López-Guerra was appointed CEO of Grupo México Transportes (GMXT) in 2018. He previously held key executive positions within the company, including Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Chief Marketing Officer (CMO). 

With a career spanning over two decades, Mr. López-Guerra is recognized as one of the most experienced executives in North America. He began his career as an intern in 2003 at the company founded by his grandfather more than 25 years ago, gradually taking on greater responsibilities in the marketing, sales, customer service, and finance departments. 

Mr. López-Guerra has led a transformation at GMXT focused on growth through service excellence. During his tenure as CEO, GMXT’s revenue increased from $1.2 billion to $3.3 billion, and EBITDA rose from $400 million to nearly $1.5 billion, accompanied by an improvement in margin from 32% to 45%. 

Under his leadership, GMXT underwent a complete reengineering in terms of capital deployment aimed at improving infrastructure, capacity, and rail safety. Additionally, Mr. López-Guerra has led major transactions to expand GMXT’s presence beyond Mexico through acquisitions of transportation companies such as Florida East Coast Railway and CGR Railway.
