Santiago is the Secretariat (CEO/CIO) of the Fondo de Ahorro de Panamá, the country’s sovereign wealth fund, where he leads investment strategy across global public and private markets. Under his leadership, the fund has grown from $1.2 billion to nearly $3.2 billion, fulfilling its dual mandate of stabilization and long-term wealth creation.He brings over 24 years of experience in investment banking, equity research, financial regulation, and public policy. Previously, he was an executive at Morgan Stanley in New York covering energy and industrials (over $270 billion in market cap), and earlier served as a financial analyst at the SEC and in the U.S. Air Force.Named 2022 CIO Industry Innovation Award winner (Sovereign Wealth Fund category), Santiago serves on the Advisory Board of IFSWF, the LPAC of an $8B secondary private equity fund, and as a U.S. Ex-Im Bank China Competition committee member.He earned his MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Denver. He holds a Board Certification from Stanford Law School, as well as fellowship status from the NACD.
