Mr. Robin Hu is Emeritus Asia Chairman of the Milken Institute and Advisory Senior Director at Temasek. Having lived and worked across Singapore, Beijing, Shanghai, Suzhou, Taipei, and Hong Kong, he brings cross-regional perspective to questions of strategic competition, geopolitics, and capital allocation.
Before his current advisory role, he headed Temasek’s Sustainability and International Policy groups and served as Vice Chairman for Asia and Operating Partner. He chairs Mandai Nature, a non-profit organisation dedicated to biodiversity protection and wildlife conservation across Southeast Asia. He is also Chairman of SGX listed Parkway-Trust Management Limited, manager of the Singapore-listed Parkway-Life REIT. He serves as Singapore’s Non-Resident Ambassador to Timor-Leste.
Earlier, Mr. Hu was Group CEO of the South China Morning Post, where he led its digital transformation and subsequent acquisition by the Alibaba Group. In the 1990s, he led Singapore’s systems transfer for the Suzhou Industrial Park. His career spans information technology, media, finance, and public service, including board service at MediaCorp, Civil Service College, Business China, and Bangkok Post Media Group.
Mr. Hu writes on strategic competition, capital flows, and Asia’s economic transition for Nikkei Asia, South China Morning Post, and the Hinrich Foundation. He serves on advisory councils for the Official Monetary and Financial Institutions Forum (OMFIF) and Bank of Singapore’s Chief Investment Office.
