Tirana Hassan is Chief Executive Officer of Doctors Without Borders / Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) USA, which provides medical humanitarian assistance to people affected by conflict, disasters, and crises. She brings more than two decades of leadership across humanitarian response and human rights, with experience spanning frontline operations and global advocacy. Her work has taken her from child and civilian protection efforts in Sierra Leone and Sudan to the tsunami response in Aceh, Indonesia after the Tsunami.
Before joining MSF USA, Hassan served as Executive Director of Human Rights Watch, overseeing work in more than 90 countries and strengthening the link between rigorous research and real-world impact. Across her career, including senior roles at Amnesty International, she has helped organizations respond to complex emergencies and remained an advocate for communities impacted by crisis and conflict.
