Stephen Engblom

Vice President, San Francisco Port Commission

Stephen Engblom is a Commissioner of the Port of San Francisco, where he helps guide 7.5 miles of waterfront at the intersection of economic development, public trust, climate resilience, and long-term infrastructure investment. The Port’s jurisdiction includes major maritime, commercial, civic, and visitor-serving assets and plays a central role in San Francisco’s economic future while advancing adaptation to seismic and sea level rise risk. 

With more than 25 years of experience advising cities, public agencies, and private-sector partners on waterfronts and urban infrastructure around the world, Engblom has built a career around the convergence of economy, environment, and equity.

He is the founder of Engblom Architecture + Planning and previously held leadership roles at AECOM and CBRE, where he focused on large-scale urban development, resilience strategy, and implementation. He is particularly interested in partnering with investors, institutions, and public leaders to unlock the next generation of blue economy and resilience infrastructure opportunities on the San Francisco waterfront.
