Mikkel Bülow-Lehnsby

Founder and Executive Chair, Urban Partners
Mikkel is Executive Chairperson of the Board of Directors at Urban Partners, where he works closely with the leadership team on the firm’s strategic direction and supports key initiatives aimed at making Urban Partners the most competent investor in the urban value chain, with a strong focus on creating green, thriving cities. He co‑founded the firm in 2005 and served as CEO until 2019. Mikkel is driven by a conviction that solving systemic challenges represents a superior investment proposition and firmly believes in the commercial potential of transition capital. He is actively engaged in the company’s advocacy efforts, promoting long‑term stakeholder capitalism, and has initiated initiatives such as LOTUF. He also co‑chairs Bloomberg’s Dynamic Cities Coalition. Beyond Urban Partners, Mikkel is involved in incubating both nonprofit initiatives—including UN Live, the Human Practice Foundation, and Charity Water—and for‑profit ventures such as The Glacial Rock Flour Company, NIO, and Home.earth. These engagements reflect his strong belief in entrepreneurship as a powerful driver of systemic change. Mikkel holds a B.Sc. in International Business from Copenhagen Business School and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
