Josh Barro

Josh Barro writes the politics-and-economy newsletter “Very Serious” on Substack and is co-host of the weekly politics roundtable podcast "Central Air." He is also a contributing opinion writer for The New York Times, and his work has appeared in publications including The Atlantic, New York magazine, Business Insider and Bloomberg News. Prior to entering journalism, Josh worked as a policy analyst focused on state and local government finance at the Manhattan Institute for Policy Research and the Tax Foundation. Before that, he was a commercial real estate banker at Wells Fargo.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Harvard College.
