John E. Shaw

Former Deputy Commander, US Space Command; Industry Advisory Board, NewSpace Capital

John E. Shaw has over 30 years of experience in national security space and aerospace engineering, focusing on leading large global organizations. His expertise in executive decision-making, risk management, and combat operations has driven transformations in strategy and culture, as well as the integration of allied and commercial capabilities into national security missions. John was among the first to join the U.S. Space Force.

As a three-star general and Deputy Commander of U.S. Space Command, John led 12,000 personnel and managed a $525M budget, overseeing the defense of critical space assets. He previously commanded 14th Air Force (U.S. Air Force) and Space Operations Command (U.S. Space Force), leading 10,000 personnel globally in military space operations. John has held key roles in the Department of Defense and National Reconnaissance Office, serving as a senior policy advisor and engaging in space security discussions with international delegations.

He now holds a number of advisory roles, including on the Advisory Board of NewSpace Capital, a global private equity firm investing in growth-stage space and space-related companies. He holds degrees in Astronautical Engineering, Aeronautics & Astronautics, and Organizational Management.
