James P. Scriven is a global development finance leader with over 25 years of experience spanning international banking, risk management, and multilateral development institutions, dedicated to driving investment, financial innovation, and growth across Latin America and the Caribbean.
Currently serving as Chief Executive Officer of IDB Invest—the private sector arm of the IDB Group—James leads an institution with $22 billion in assets under management, serving 440 clients across 25 countries.
Since its establishment in 2016, he has guided IDB Invest from inception through a period of significant expansion and transformation. Under his leadership, the institution secured a $3.5 billion capital increase and launched its originate-to-share business model.
Prior to joining IDB Invest, James spent over 15 years at the International Finance Corporation, where he served as Vice President for Corporate Risk and Sustainability. Earlier in his career, he held senior executive roles in Argentina, including Chief Financial Officer of Banco Hipotecario and Chief Executive Officer of Banco de Crédito y Securitización.
A dual Argentine-British national, James holds a Master’s degree in Finance from Universidad del Centro de Estudios Macroeconómicos and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the Pontifical Catholic University of Argentina. James is a strong advocate for financial innovation, committed to strengthening the role of the private sector as a catalyst for development.
