Hemant Teneja

Hemant Taneja is the CEO of General Catalyst. His work centers on applied AI as the engine for abundance and resilience—modernizing the systems that matter most to society. He laid out his thesis for building resilient, abundant systems in his 2025 national bestseller: The Transformation Principles. He has architected the company’s strategy to drive global resilience through AI transformation in five critical industries: healthcare, defense, industrials, energy, and financial services. General Catalyst provides its portfolio founders with powerful advantages to execute this strategy, including a flexible capital stack, market access through its operating businesses like HATCo and Percepta, global policy expertise via the GC Institute, and the GC Famiglia, a global ecosystem of relationships. As an investor, he has backed many generational founders who have built market leading companies like Anduril, Anthropic, Applied Intuition, Gusto, Long Lake, Polymarket, Ro, Samsara, Snap and Stripe. He has also co-founded several companies—including Commure, Hippocratic AI, Livongo (sold to Teladoc for $18.5Bn) and Transcarent—that are part of his vision for transforming the healthcare industry into a proactive, affordable, and accessible system.
