Daniel Klier

Dr. Daniel Klier is Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of PUR - a leading developer of Nature Based Solutions. He joined the firm at the start of 2026 to lead the next phase of growth. Before joining PUR, Daniel had a long career in climate finance. He served as CEO of South Pole, where he led the transformation and strategic repositioning of the business after creating ESG Book, a market leader in sustainability data and technology. He started his work in climate finance at HSBC as Global Head of Sustainable Finance. Daniel joined HSBC as Group Head of Strategy after his career at McKinsey & Company, where he was a Partner.

A widely recognised leader in the energy transition, Daniel has served as the Chair of the Bank of England’s Climate Working Group and Chair of the Institute of International Finance’s Sustainable Finance Working Group. He serves on the Boards of the global sustainability reporting standard GRI and the international organisation Sustainable Energy for All.
