Dr. Charles E. Owubah is CEO of Action Against Hunger USA, where he provides strategic leadership to advance programs that combat global hunger, improve food security, expand access to clean water, and support child survival through both emergency relief and long-term development.
A passionate humanitarian, Dr. Owubah brings deep expertise in program design, monitoring, and evaluation. His work emphasizes collaboration with local communities to deliver sustainable, high-impact solutions that address the root causes of hunger and malnutrition.
Originally from Ghana, Dr. Owubah earned his Master of Science and Ph.D. in Natural Resource Management and Policy from Purdue University. He began his career in academia and consulting before spending nearly two decades at World Vision, where he held several senior leadership roles, including Regional Vice President for East Africa and Vice President and Partnership Leader.
Throughout his career, he has contributed to global thought leadership and governance through service on numerous boards and advisory groups. These include the Pinchot Institute for Conservation, the Joint Learning Initiative on Faith and Local Communities, and a United Nations High-Level Task Force on Famine Prevention and Response. He currently serves on the boards of KickStart International and Global Impact and is a member of the Forbes Nonprofit Council.
