Dr Wolfgang Schwerdtle is the Head of GIC’s Brazil Office and Head, Direct Investments Group, Latin America (Latam). He oversees GIC’s private equity investments in Latin America and chairs GIC’s Latam Business Group. He is also a member of GIC’s Sustainability Committee and co-heads the Sustainability Solutions Group. Wolfgang joined GIC in London in 2009 and transferred to New York in 2011 before moving to São Paulo in 2014. Prior to joining GIC, he worked in private equity and investment banking in Europe and the US. Wolfgang currently serves on the boards of directors of Rede D’Or (the largest integrated health care network in Brazil), Smartfit (the leading company in the fitness market in Latin America) and Duas Rodas (Brazil’s leading producer of food ingredients). He is also chairman of the board of Cruzeiro do Sul Educacional (an education group with over 500 thousand students). Wolfgang holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, Philosophy and Physiology and a Master of Science in Economics for Development from the University of Oxford. He also holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Chicago and a doctorate from the European Business School (EBS Universität).
