Ruben Coppel

Board Chairman, BanCoppel and Afore Coppel

Rubén is a Mexican businessman and philanthropist. He grew up in Mexicali, B.C., México, just at the border with the USA. In 2017 he was appointed CEO of Coppel Group Financial Services and Chairman of the Board of BanCoppel (Bank) and Afore Coppel (retirement fund administrator). In December 2022, he decided to separate his roles and stay exclusively as Chairman. Ruben studied Industrial and Systems Engineering with a specialty in international business at the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (ITESM) and has a master’s degree in business administration from Babson College in Boston, Massachusetts. He joined Grupo Coppel in 2011 and since then he has held different positions as a salesperson, financial advisor and regional manager. Currently, he also heads the Multi-Family Investment Office, which he helped build in 2012 and from where he analyzes global capital projects. From 2007 to 2009, he served as an associate consultant at Bain & Company, where he helped important clients redefine their business strategy. Rubén is highly involved in education projects that provide children the opportunity to realize their potential through quality education. He is currently a member of the Advisory Board of the ITESM´s Business School (EGADE).
