Undergraduate Degree in Economics and Masters in Economics. Served as Governor of the Central Bank of Brazil from 2019 to 2024.Named Best Central Banker Globally by Central Banking magazine in 2021. Awarded Best Central Banker in Latin America by Latin Finance magazine in 2022, 2023, and 2024. The first Governor of the Central Bank of Brazil to receive an “A” grade from Global Finance. Creator of PIX , Open Finance and DREX, and a leading figure behind the most significant financial innovation movement in Brazil in recent years. Has over 25 years of experience in the financial market. Prior to joining the Central Bank, he was Head of Global Markets at Banco Santander.
