
Paul Hinks is the Founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Symbion Group, a US-based power investor that develops, finances, constructs and operates electrical power infrastructure in emerging markets. Under his leadership, Symbion has invested in 1,400MW of generation capacity across Africa, in Rwanda, Tanzania, Kenya, Madagascar, and Nigeria, and constructed over 3,000 kms of transmission and distribution lines. The company is currently investing in sustainable energy projects in Democratic Republic of Congo and Angola. As an Independent Power Producer, Symbion has successfully built, owned, and operated electricity infrastructure across the Middle East, Asia, and Africa. Headquartered in New York City, Symbion is one of the largest US investors in the power sector in Sub-Saharan Africa. Symbion’s portfolio includes MyHydro, a company focused on developing scalable, distributed hydropower solutions tailored for off-grid communities in Africa. The group's latest venture is HYDRO-LINK, a developer of large-scale transmission distribution, where he also serves as Chairman and CEO. With a career spanning over 40 years in the global power industry, Paul’s experience includes work in the United Kingdom, the United States, the Middle East, Asia, and Africa. Additionally, Paul currently serves as Chairman of Invest Africa US, a leading business and investment platform that connecting investors to opportunities across the continent and is a member of the Milken Institute Africa Leaders Business Council.
