Mary Obelnicki is the co-founder of Echidna Giving, working to grant $100 million annually to girls’ education in lower-income countries to create a positive ripple effect in their families, communities, and nations. She is an active member of the Giving Pledge community, an experienced advocate for and sought-after speaker on philanthropy and international giving, and co-author of the book 17 Big Bets for a Better World alongside other world thought-leaders like UN Deputy Secretary General Amina J. Mohammed and former Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard. Mary’s career and background in computer science and public affairs as a Coro Fellow shape her analytical and research-informed approach to social change. She's been a long term board member at Tilting Futures, an organization working to increase global empathy and sustainability through immersive global learning accessible to students from all parts of the world. In what was perhaps her first fusion of analytical thinking and social change, she engineered the perfect toasted marshmallow for the benefit of her campers, while teaching wilderness education for the Girl Scouts.
