Dr. Jesse M. Ehrenfeld, MD, MPH, is the 178th president of the American Medical Association (AMA) and a global thought leader in the field of digital health, AI, and clinical informatics. He also serves as a senior associate dean and professor of anesthesiology at the Medical College of Wisconsin, where he also directs the Advancing a Healthier Wisconsin Endowment. Dr. Ehrenfeld's research focuses on improving surgical safety and patient outcomes through information technology. His work has been widely recognized, leading to over 275 peer-reviewed publications and numerous awards. He serves as editor-in-chief of the Journal of Medical Systems and has co-authored 22 clinical textbooks. Beyond his clinical and academic roles, Dr. Ehrenfeld is a nationally recognized advocate for LGBTQ+ health equity. He received the inaugural Sexual and Gender Minority Research Investigator Award from the NIH in 2018. Dr. Ehrenfeld also contributes as a consultant to the World Health Organization and serves on the National Academy of Medicine’s Health Policy Fellowships and Leadership Programs Advisory Committee.
