Jeb Bentley

Executive Vice President, Chief Investment Officer, Northwestern Mutual

John E. (Jeb) Bentley is Executive Vice President and Chief Investment Officer (CIO)of Northwestern Mutual. In this role, he oversees the institutional investment team managing $324 billion of the company’s assets. After joining Northwestern Mutual as a private markets investment professional in 2004, Bentley held several leadership and investment roles for the company’s general account, including leading the Investment Strategy team responsible for asset allocation and leading the Public Investments team managing investment-grade and high-yield fixed income portfolios. In 2022, he moved to the retail market to head the wealth management business, which today has over $330 billion in client assets. Prior to Northwestern Mutual, Bentley held investment roles at Chicago-based private equity firm Wind Point Partners and was an investment banking analyst at Lehman Brothers in New York. He received his bachelor’s degree in economics cum laude from Williams College and an M.B.A. in finance from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®) charter holder.
