Guillermo Lasso

47th President, Republic of Ecuador

Guillermo Lasso Mendoza was born in Guayaquil on November 16, 1955. His career, of more than 50 years of experience in the public and private sector of Ecuador, has been marked by ideas of progress and dedication to his country and his family. He has written three books: "Letters to my children", "Another Ecuador is possible" and “900 Days: Democracy and Results”, in which he recounts the stages of his life, his political ideals, and his government results, correspondingly. In 2011, he received an Honoris Causa Doctorate from the University of theAmericas due to his career path and achievements. He founded Ecuador Libre, a think tank that promotes ideals of individual freedom, justice, free market, private property and the rule of law. With the purpose of serving Ecuadorians, he founded the party Creando Oportunidades (CREO). In 2021, he achieved the Presidency of the Republic of Ecuador, after having participated as a candidate in 2013 and 2017. His mandate was characterized by the strengthening of Ecuadorian democracy, the recovery of the national economy, a large social investment and the protection of the environment.
