Laura is a social entrepreneur and venture philanthropist. She primarily focuses her efforts on grantmaking through the Laura and Gary Lauder Family Venture Philanthropy Fund. She serves on 9 non-profit boards, and leads the social impact investing work at the $2 Billion Jewish Community Foundation in San Francisco. Laura and her husband Gary co-founded the Socrates Program of the Aspen Institute in 1996. Nearly 10,000 young leaders have participated over 27 years. Some of the boards Laura serves on are: the Aspen Institute, Social Finance in Boston (a non-profit investment bank), and several individual family foundation boards allocating hundreds of millions each year .She’s a native of Canton, Ohio and went to UNC Chapel Hill for undergraduate education. She and Gary (GSB ‘90) live in Silicon Valley and have two young-adult children.
