Maura Plante is a Co-Founder of the Florida Health and Nutrition Coalition, together with AHA and UF / IFAS. Maura is also the Founder and CEO of Living Hungry, a nonprofit, community-based organization with the Healthy Food Prescription, a Medically Tailored Groceries program for diabetic patients in Palm Beach County for 8 years. The Healthy Food Prescription research study conducted by Tufts University Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy, by Principal Investigator Dr. Dariush Mozaffarian MD, MPH, and Dr. Kurt Hager was completed in 2023 and presented to SNEB the results of a decrease in HBA1C’s by -0.8-point in 6 months.

Maura is a national speaker and advocate for Food is Medicine. She earned her Master's in Clinical Psychology from Columbia University, is a published author on domestic violence and the interplay with Chinese culture in the New York Academy of Science Annals. Her present research focus is on building food is medicine programs across Florida to integrate medically tailored groceries and produce prescriptions into clinical healthcare. Maura successfully drafted and ran two FiM Bills in the Florida House and Senate in 2023 and 2024 for a Medicaid Section 1115 Waiver to run 5 novel pilots of FiM programs.
