Shil Patel

Shil B. Patel is currently President of Ranger Global, an investment fund and family office started by Alex von Furstenberg. From 2017 to 2026 he worked for U.S. Senator Thom Tillis. His last position was Chief of Staff for the Senator. He previously was Legislative Director and had responsibility for the Senator’s policy initiatives on the Armed Services, Veterans Affairs, Judiciary, and Banking Committees. He initially covered banking, trade, and finance issues as a Legislative Assistant with the Senator. Prior to joining the Senate, he was a financial analyst at the Federal Reserve in the Banking Supervision & Regulation Division in Washington DC. He primarily covered trust and custody banks and also helped with regulatory initiatives including stress testing, capital, liquidity, and derivative markets. Shil started his career with the Northern Trust Corporation in Chicago. Over the course of five years he worked as a research analyst and junior portfolio manager with the institutional equity fund, in asset allocation, and finally in the corporate strategy group. Shil has an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a BS from Northwestern University. Shil is also a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).
