Harris Eyre

Harris Eyre MD PhD is Executive Director at the Global Brain Economy Initiative (GBEI), Harry Z. Yan & Weiman Gao Senior Fellow at Rice University , and Presidential Senior Fellow, at The University of Texas Medical Branch. Harris is a medical doctor and neuroscientist helping business leaders, policymakers, scientists, and the public navigate the Brain Economy. He leads GBEI, the leading organization dedicated to advancing the Brain Economy. GBEI collaborates closely with major institutions, including the WEF Brain Economy Action Forum, to accelerate the adoption of brain-positive strategies worldwide. Harris is widely recognized for pioneering the Brain Economy transition - via a 2020 paper in Molecular Psychiatry - bringing together neuroscience, economics, public policy, technology, finance, and urban development into a practical framework for developing human potential. At the core of his work is the idea that brain capital—cognitive, emotional, and social capabilities—is the defining resource of the 21st century. Harris is an advisor to the McKinsey Health Institute and the MD Anderson Cancer Neuroscience Program, as well as visiting senior fellow with the Wharton Neuroscience Initiative. He has authored more than 200 peer-reviewed publications spanning biology, medicine, and economics, e.g., Neuron, Cell, Nature Medicine, and the Brookings Policy Paper Series. He is the lead editor of Convergence Mental Health (Oxford University Press), a work that helped shape his vision of the Brain Economy as a transdisciplinary movement.
