James Kim

Managing Director, Head of PE Investment Group, Hanwha Asset Management
James Kim is a Managing Director of Hanwha Asset Management and Head of the Private Equity Investment Group. Mr. Kim also serves on the Firm's Investment Committee, which is comprised of the Firm's senior leaders in the alternative investments business. Mr. Kim joined the Firm in September 2025 and will lead Hanwha Asset Management’s private equity activities in Korea. Prior to joining Hanwha Asset Management, Mr. Kim was an Executive Director at Morgan Stanley Private Equity Asia, where he focused on mid-market buyout investments in Korea. Prior to Morgan Stanley Private Equity Asia, Mr. Kim was a Director at Affirma Capital (formerly known as Standard Chartered Private Equity), where he focused on mid-market growth capital and buyout investments in Korea. Mr. Kim received a B.A. in business economics from Brown University and an M.B.A. from New York University Stern School of Business.
