Hisham Hamdan is a tri-sector leader with over 30 years of experience spanning financial, strategic, and societal domains. His career covers leadership across portfolio management (as an asset owner, asset manager, and sell-side intermediary), holding companies, conglomerates, and business units spanning more than 20 sectors and 20 countries.
As Chief Investment Officer of Khazanah Nasional, he oversees multiple asset classes including Public Markets, Private Markets, Real Assets, and strategic domestic stakes in both listed and unlisted companies. Khazanah’s investments span both Developed and Emerging Markets, and employ a range of approaches – Public Markets (active, systematic, and passive strategies), Private Markets (Buyouts, Growth, VC), and Real Assets (Core, Core+, Value Add, Opportunistic).
He is an experienced investor and corporate leader, with perspective both as a capital provider (investor, asset owner) and as a capital user (CEO, chairman, board member). Hisham bridges the capital markets ecosystem, linking providers of capital with its users while bringing a balanced perspective to complex investment decisions. This duality helps him reconcile the priorities of capital providers and users.
He holds dual degrees in Chemical Engineering and Industrial Management from Purdue University and has also attended the Advanced Management Programme at Harvard Business School.
