What will it take to make longer lives better lives for everyone?
Ten years ago, the Milken Institute published a collection of essays exploring what longer lives could make possible for individuals and society. This new collection brings together more than 50 thought leaders and practitioners from health care, financial services, technology, aging services, philanthropy, advocacy, and academia to assess what the past decade has delivered and what the next one demands.
Our contributors examine the issues shaping longer lives today, from brain health and caregiving to work and retirement, housing, agetech and AI, social connection, and lifelong learning. Across very different fields, they reach a common conclusion: Healthy longevity is a collective responsibility and requires urgent cross-sector, systems-level change.
A call to action and practical roadmap, this collection summons leaders in the public, private, and nonprofit sectors to build systems, workplaces, and communities that support longer lives; invest in people across the life course; shift outdated narratives, policies, and practices; and connect people within and across generations.
A decade of progress has shown what is possible. Now is the decade to act.
