Future of Health Summit 2026

Part 2: Transforming Mental Health Care: From Crisis to Hope

-

The global prevalence of mental health conditions rose 95.5 percent from 1990 to 2023, according to the 2023 Global Burden of Disease study. For people with serious mental illnesses (SMI), in particular, persistent challenges such as provider shortages, system fragmentation, and lack of access to high-quality, affordable care continue to impede outcome improvements. Digital and biomedical innovations, integrated care models, and community-based approaches are reshaping SMI treatment and providing a return on investment, provided patients have access to appropriate care and support. This panel will explore innovations transforming care for people with SMI and examine the policies, investments, and partnerships needed to scale effective solutions, strengthen care systems, and improve the lives of patients, families, and communities.
