Expanding the Toolbox for Brain Disorders

-

For decades, default treatments for brain disorders—from depression and PTSD to Parkinson’s—have been symptom management with drugs that are often slow to work and prone to side effects. Therapeutic advances come slowly, as neurological and psychiatric drugs are difficult and costly to develop, with trials having among the lowest success rates in medicine. But the landscape is changing. Alzheimer's now has disease-modifying therapies, while advances in engineering and AI, brain-computer interfaces, and neuromodulation are enabling more precise, targeted intervention across a wide range of brain-based disorders. And there is growing evidence of the power of music and the arts to improve cognition, mood, function, and quality of life. This session will bring together experts and investors in neurotechnology and novel medical interventions to discuss the latest developments and future possibilities in brain disorder treatment.
