Decoding Deception: Understanding and Protecting Against the Dramatic Rise of Financial Scams (Invite only)

Tech-enabled fraud and financial scams are proliferating worldwide at warp speed—we are in a new era of complex, often undetectable larceny. One in three Americans admit having been targeted by scammers, and losses amounting to $1 trillion in the US alone were reported in 2024. Bad actors leverage sophisticated digital tools and AI to devise convincing simulacra of communications from financial and other firms, generating fake videos and financial documents at a once-unimaginable scale and level of sophistication. Our panel of experts will survey the landscape of frauds, scams, and scammers. They will specify measures individuals can take to protect their financial security. Further, they will explain approaches that financial firms, corporations, and government entities can take to combat the increasingly complex and lightning-fast development of fraudulent schemes to part honest players from their money.
