Few people alive today can claim they are genuinely changing the course of human history—Demis Hassabis may be one of them. Demis Hassabis, Co-Founder and CEO of Google DeepMind, Nobel Prize winner, and chess prodigy, has spent decades pursuing what once seemed impossible and now may be within reach: machines capable of reasoning at a level that rivals, and perhaps surpasses, our own. In The Infinity Machine, acclaimed financial journalist and two-time Pulitzer Prize finalist Sebastian Mallaby draws on years of extraordinary access to Hassabis and his inner circle to unravel the complex world of a genius. Mallaby explores what it means to be in such a central role in the world of AI, while also remaining critical and wary of some of its implications. Sebastian Mallaby, alongside The Wall Street Journal’s Gregory Zuckerman, will discuss what it means to stand at the frontier of the most consequential technological race of our time, and whether the people leading it can truly control where it ends up.
As with all Global Conference public sessions, registration is not required to attend an Author Talk, but seating is limited. Seats will be open to the first 100 attendees. We recommend Conference attendees add any Author Talks of interest to your agenda. If you cannot attend the Author Talk or are solely interested in the book signing portion, we encourage you to come to the Global Conference on-site bookstore managed by Barnes & Noble at the end of the scheduled hour for a 30-minute signing.
Books featured in the Author Talks and Book Signings are available for purchase at the on-site bookstore.
