Bryan Stirewalt

MENA Financial Services Regulatory Lead, EY

Bryan has over 35 years of experience in the public and private sectors, working in both developed and developing markets around the globe. Bryan is currently leading the Financial Services Regulatory team at EY. Before EY, Bryan worked for 14 years at the Dubai Financial Services Authority (“DFSA”), most recently serving as the DFSA’s Chief Executive. Bryan served as the co-chair of the Basel Consultative Group for nearly 10 years, representing the group at meetings of the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision. Prior to his role at the DFSA, following a 10-year career with the US Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, Bryan worked with international development organizations in improving financial sector supervision and regulation practices in Poland, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, and Cyprus. Given his roles above, Bryan has a deep understanding of the cross-border and changing nature of finance and risk through both traditional and innovative distribution channels. He is global thought leader in topics such as: digitalization and automation of financial services; cryptocurrency and digital assets; financial crime; cyber risk and resilience; and financial inclusion / financial literacy.
