Adam Smith

Congressman Adam Smith (D-Wash.) is the Democratic leader of the House Armed Services Committee, and strongly supports the need for the United States to be able to quickly adapt in its national security and national defense posture and policies, particularly as it relates to investment and innovation in technology and the defense industrial base. Ranking Member Smith is also a steadfast advocate for the U.S. to continue working with partners and allies to deter aggression and defend democracy worldwide. Further, Ranking Member Smith understands the need for a holistic approach to our national security and national defense, which includes addressing threats posed by climate change and pressing social and economic challenges like poverty reduction, access to education, sustainable global markets, diplomatic engagement, and good governance.
