Jim Breyer

Founder and CEO, Breyer Capital

Jim is the Founder and CEO of Breyer Capital, a family office/venture capital firm based in Austin, TX, and Menlo Park, CA. As a lead investor and Director, many of his investments have returned well over 100 times their cost, and over a dozen more have returned well over 25 times their cost. Jim has served on the Board of Directors of Blackstone since 2016, where he has been instrumental in helping to initiate Blackstone’s Life Sciences Funds and Blackstone’s Technology Growth Funds. He has previously served as an investor and/or lead Director at Dell, Etsy, Facebook, Circle, Legendary Entertainment, Marvel Entertainment, Spotify, Wal-Mart, and 21st Century Fox as well as many others. Jim was a co-founder and investment committee member of Accel-KKR. Over the past several years, Jim has developed a deep personal and investment interest in teams working in artificial intelligence (AI) and quantum technologies, and he has made over 20 investments in this space since 2015. Jim’s investment interests have centered on collaborating and deepening ties with many of the world’s leading universities in the United States, including Stanford, Harvard, MIT, UCSF, the University of Texas at Austin, and several others that have deep expertise in technologies at the intersection of AI, the life sciences, and quantum sciences. In 2025, Breyer Capital partnered with Harvard Medical School’s Department of Biomedical Informatics to support AI-driven precision medicine, further strengthening Jim’s commitment to fostering innovation in these fields.
