As the CEO of Action Against Hunger, a nonpartisan nonprofit organization, Dr. Charles E. Owubah provides strategic direction to more than 1,800 staff who helped serve more than 21 million people in 55 countries last year. Under his leadership, Action Against Hunger has conducted groundbreaking research, tapped the power of data and predictive analytics and launched new partnerships and programs to prevent malnutrition and respond to hunger hotspots. A passionate humanitarian, Dr. Owubah has served on the UN High-level Task Force on Famine Prevention and Response, the Forbes Nonprofit Council, and the Dean’s Global Leadership Council at the University of Maryland’s College of Agriculture & Natural Resources. Originally from Ghana, Dr. Owubah earned his Ph.D. in Natural Resource Management and Policy from Purdue University, which honored him with its Distinguished Agriculture Alumnus Award. Recently, he received the inaugural James T. Morris Humanitarian Award for his work to deliver on the promise of zero hunger for all.
