Since Feb. 2024, Amb. Carlos Gonzalez-Gutierrez heads the Consulate General of Mexico in Los Angeles. This is the largest Mexican representation in the US after the Embassy in Washington, D.C. Prior to this role, he served as Consul General in San Diego, California, for five years. Amb. Gonzalez-Gutierrez has also represented Mexico as Consul General in the two most important state capitals for Mexico in the US: Sacramento, CA and Austin, Texas, where, he was responsible for monitoring public policies implemented in the state that could affect Mexico or Mexican communities in California. He holds a Bachelor's degree in International Relations from El Colegio de México and a Master's in International Relations from (USC).
