Congressman Adam Smith represents the 9th District of Washington State, serving parts of King and Pierce Counties including Seattle, Bellevue, and Tacoma. Congressman Smith was first elected to Congress in 1996 and has since been reelected 12 times. His top priorities in Congress include addressing the existential threat of our time – climate change – while creating equal economic opportunity for all by ensuring that all Americans have access to high-quality education and job-training opportunities, and access to affordable health care. Congressman Smith is also a champion of building a stronger transportation infrastructure, supporting social programs that help struggling families, and defending the civil rights of every American. As a senior member of Democratic Leadership in the House, Congressman Smith also serves as Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, where he is a strong advocate for our military personnel and their families.
