Acclaimed for transforming Chinese skylines with iconic architecture, Xin is recognized for leading SOHO China to become one of China’s largest prime office property developers with over 60 million square feet of projects. Born in Beijing, Xin moved to Hong Kong at age 14 where she worked as a factory girl before venturing to the UK where she earned a Bachelor's degree in Economics from the University of Sussex and a Master's degree in Development Economics from Cambridge University. She later worked in investment banking with Goldman Sachs and Travelers Group before establishing SOHO China in 1995. Xin is a Trustee of the Museum of Modern Art and the Asia Society, and is a member of the World Economic Forum, the Council on Foreign Relations Global Board of Advisors, and the Harvard Global Advisory Council. She and her husband Pan Shiyi are members of the Bill Gates’ Breakthrough Energy Coalition that funds technology to enable a zero-emissions future. Xin and her husband established the SOHO China Foundation in 2005, and in 2014 launched the SOHO China Scholarships to a $100 million initiative providing financial aid to Chinese students at leading international universities.
