Marie Groark leads grantmaking at the Schultz Family Foundation, including its most ambitious and complex efforts to create pathways of opportunity for young people transitioning to adulthood. She helped design and build the Youth Mental Health Corps, bringing together partners across philanthropy, government, employers, and community organizations to create a new model that combines national service, youth mental health, and workforce development. She has played a central role in the Corps’ expansion to 26 states, from developing the initial strategy and model to building the partnerships needed to take it to scale.
Prior to joining the Foundation, Marie spent nearly a decade at Paramount, where she founded and led Get Schooled, a nonprofit that helps young people navigate education and the job market. Under her leadership, Get Schooled was named one of Fast Company’s Most Innovative Companies in 2017 for its use of gamification to engage young people and improve student outcomes. Earlier in her career, Marie was a Senior Program Officer at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and a management consultant with PwC Consulting, advising public, nonprofit, and private-sector clients. She began her career as a social studies teacher at John F. Kennedy High School in the Bronx.
Marie holds a BA from New York University, an MA from Teachers College at Columbia University, and an MPP from Harvard Kennedy School.
