Saumya Jamuar

Fellow, Renaissance Philanthropy

Dr. Saumya Jamuar is a board-certified clinical geneticist, serial entrepreneur, and pioneering medical innovator. He currently serves as Director of the Centre for Precision Health & Paediatrics and as a Fellow at Renaissance Philanthropy, where he is building a platform that treats rare genetic disease as an engineering and systems problem - one shared pipeline, multiple therapeutic modalities, many diseases, designed around the cost base and around patients.

His previous leadership roles include Lead Principal Investigator for the Singapore Undiagnosed Disease program (BRIDGES) and Director of the SingHealth Duke-NUS Institute of Precision Medicine. Dr. Jamuar is dedicated to bridging the gap between genomic research and meaningful patient care. Notably, he discovered the rare genetic disorder Jamuar syndrome and champions research, treatment advocacy, and family support through The UGDH Foundation. He is also the inventor of the first customized Asian carrier screening panel, RheaStrands, which his team developed by identifying critical clinical gaps in Asian genomic data.

Dr. Jamuar is also deeply involved in shaping national and global policies, serving as Chair of the Chapter of Genomic Medicine at the Academy of Medicine, Singapore, Board Member of Undiagnosed Diseases Network International and as Vice-Chair of the Diagnostics Scientific Committee of the International Rare Diseases Research Consortium. Additionally, as co-founder of Global Gene Corp and Rhea Health, he has been instrumental in building ventures that harness advanced genomic technologies to deliver precision medicine solutions across Asia and beyond.

His academic background includes medical training at the National University of Singapore, Paediatric training at KK Women's and Children's Hospital, and a clinical genetics residency at Harvard Medical School. His research has been published in several prestigious journals, including The New England Journal of Medicine, Nature Genetics, and Nature Communications, highlighting his commitment to advancing the field of genomic medicine.

A passionate advocate for collaboration and innovation, Dr. Jamuar has successfully built and led multidisciplinary teams, secured significant funding and investments, and fostered partnerships that drive sustainable business growth. His vision is to democratize access to genomic medicine and empower healthcare systems globally through strategic alliances and innovative technologies.
