David Elia

David Elia AM has been CEO of Hostplus since 2003. Under his stewardship, the fund has grown to serve 2 million members and manage more than $160 billion in funds under management. He brings wide-ranging experience across superannuation, finance, corporate and fund governance, and strategic planning. A highly respected industry leader, David serves as a Director of the Super Members Council and the Australian Council of Superannuation Investors. Beyond his professional commitments, David is a strong contributor to the not-for-profit sector and a passionate advocate for men’s health. He has previously served as a Director of RULE Prostate and is currently a Director of The Grangers Foundation. David has a Bachelor of Economics from La Trobe University, a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance and Investments from the Financial Services Institute of Australasia, and is a Member of Chartered Accountants Australia & New Zealand. David’s leadership has been recognised by numerous industry awards, including the Australian Financial Review BOSS True Leader award and the Fund Executives Association (FEAL) Fund Executive of the Year Award. David was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in 2026 for significant service to the superannuation industry through executive roles.
