Bharat Anand

Bharat Anand is a Partner in the Corporate practice at Khaitan & Co, leads the Firm’s NCR Delhi office and serves on its National Executive Committee.

He advises clients on mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, private equity transactions, late-stage growth investments and special situations involving venture-backed companies. His clients include financial sponsors, founders and family offices, whom he represents on control transactions, growth capital investments, joint ventures and exits. He has also advised Indian and international clients on disputes in India.

Bharat’s practice spans a wide range of sectors, including financial services, insurance, renewable energy, telecommunications, information technology, manufacturing and consumer goods. Over the course of his career, he has advised leading global and Indian investors and businesses, including SoftBank, Lightspeed, Quadria Capital, Everstone Capital, Manipal Hospitals and Bertelsmann.

With extensive experience advising major pools of private capital, Bharat brings a strong understanding of complex transactions and the priorities of institutional investors seeking opportunities in India. His work across acquisitions, investments and exits gives him a broad perspective on the full investment lifecycle.

Bharat read law at Jesus College, Cambridge, and is qualified to practise in India and England and Wales. Before joining Khaitan & Co in 2009, he spent several years at Freshfields in London as a corporate and M&A lawyer. His international experience, combined with nearly two decades of transactional work, makes him a valuable adviser to private equity firms, family offices, founders and global investors doing business in India.
