Benjamin Tan

Dr Benjamin Tan is a Consultant Neurologist and Clinical Director of the Division of Neurology at the National University Hospital, Singapore. His work sits at the intersection of stroke, brain health and brain care, with a focus on translating research into practical approaches for prevention, healthier brain ageing and personalised care. He leads brain health initiatives in Singapore that apply the Brain Care Score to address modifiable factors associated with stroke and dementia, and works with the Global Brain Care Coalition (GBCC) to adapt and implement evidence-based brain care approaches across Asian populations and communities. His research spans young-onset stroke, genomics, biomarkers, patient-reported outcomes and healthcare data science. Dr Tan has authored more than 300 peer-reviewed publications and holds an academic appointment at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore. He is also a Joint Principal Investigator at A*STAR’s Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology (IMCB) and co-leads digital infrastructure at the National University Centre for Genomic Medicine (NUGEM). He serves in editorial and international scientific leadership roles in neurology and stroke.
