FasterCures, a Center of the Milken Institute, and Society of Women’s Health Research (SWHR) advocated for the 21st Century Cures Act, which resulted in positive changes for women’s health research. The Cures Act, signed into law on December 13, 2016, aims to advance biomedical innovation, support research, and modernize medical product development to get treatments to patients more quickly.
 
In this brief report, FasterCures and SWHR explore how the Cures Act has affected the landscape for women in clinical research and understanding of sex- and gender-based differences in disease.
