Retooling Disaster Preparedness and Response: New Directions and Opportunities for Resilient Recovery

As the frequency and costs of weather-driven disasters keep going up, the existing systems for response and recovery are being strained. What are the smartest pre-disaster risk mitigation investments that communities can take to reduce storm impact and get small businesses, food supplies, and infrastructure systems back up and running? How can we incentivize shifting construction techniques and materials to bolster against storm damage and solve housing affordability challenges? How can communities better support small businesses given their critical role in disaster recovery and community resilience? This panel will feature examples and experts paving the way to resilient recovery.
