Nicolas Parasie

Nicolas Parasie is based in Dubai where he serves as The Wall Street Journal’s Middle East business and finance correspondent. He joined Dow Jones, publisher of the WSJ, in Amsterdam in 2005 where he covered financial services in the Netherlands. In 2007, he was appointed banking and insurance correspondent in Paris. During his time in Europe, Nicolas wrote about some of the biggest mergers and acquisitions in the banking sector, the onset of the financial crisis and a major rogue trader scandal. In 2009, Nicolas moved to the Gulf region where, after a stint with Thomson Reuters, he re-joined the WSJ's Dubai office. His recent reporting has focused on the economic changes taking place in the Gulf region and the events around private equity firm Abraaj. He holds a degree in Germanic languages from the University of Brussels and a degree in journalism from Boston University.
