
Eric Cioè-Peña, MD, MPH, MBA is the founder and Vice President of the Center for Global Health at Northwell Health and the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell, and an Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine. He trained in Emergency Medicine at SUNY Downstate and completed the Columbia University International Emergency Medicine Fellowship, earning an MPH in Humanitarian Assistance from Columbia and an MBA from Hofstra. He has led health systems development, trauma care, and humanitarian projects in Ecuador, Guyana, India, Ukraine, Botswana, the Dominican Republic, and El Salvador, where he served over a decade as ACEP’s lead ambassador. A fellow of The Health Management Academy and the American College of Emergency Physicians, he was named the Schwab Foundation’s 2025 Corporate Social Innovator of the Year at the World Economic Forum in Davos. At Northwell, Dr. Cioè-Peña advances global initiatives in mental health, surgery, technology-enabled equity, and climate change mitigation. He served as Medical Director of a 108-bed COVID alternate care facility, treating over 1,000 patients, and is past president of both the Global Emergency Medicine Academy (SAEM) and the Global Emergency Medicine Fellowship Consortium. His global health leadership has been recognized by Prime Minister Mia Mottley of Barbados, President Irfaan Ali of Guyana, and President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of Ukraine.
