Paul Chew

Paul is currently President, 1Rx DigiPharm Advisory, LLC and Chief Medical Officer (CMO) for Cormedix, a company harnessing taurolidine technology to combat vascular infections. He is also on the Board of Directors and CMO for Phesi, a company applying proprietary statistical platforms and web-based analytics to optimize clinical trial design and execution in oncology, neurodegenerative disease, and rare diseases. In 2018, Phesi was short-listed for the SCRIP Technological Innovation in Clinical Trials Award. Prior to his current positions Paul was Chief Medical Officer of Omada Health, a San-Francisco based company that started the field of digital therapeutics, effecting behavioral change to prevent diabetes Paul has served as Senior Vice-President, Global CMO in Paris for Sanofi Pharmaceuticals and concurrently as US R&D Head. At Sanofi, he represented the company at numerous FDA Advisory Committees and he was responsible for global functions: medical affairs, regulatory affairs, and pharmacovigilance with teams in more than 100 countries. Prior to Sanofi, Paul held leadership R&D positions in Aventis and Bristol-Myers Squibb. He has been a member of the Roundtable for Value and Science-Driven Healthcare, National Academy of Medicine; member, External Advisory Board for the Gillings School of Public Health, UNC; Trustee, BioNJ; member, International Advisory Board, Center Virchow-Villerme, Paris-Berlin, promoting joint Franco-German research in public health. Paul is a member of the Board of Trustees for the US Pharmacopeial Convention. USP plays a vital role in developing and publishing US quality standards for drug substances, drug products, excipients, and dietary supplements and is recognized by more than 140 countries. Paul serves also on the Board of Directors for CStone Pharmaceuticals, a Shanghai-based biopharmaceutical company. Prior to industry, Paul was at Johns Hopkins for more than two decades where he received his B.S. and M.D. degrees, serving his medical residency at the Johns Hopkins Hospital as well as cardiology fellowship and interventional cardiology training there, finally holding joint faculty appointments in Radiology and Cardiology. Paul is doubly board-certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Disease. Paul is married, the father of two daughters and lives in Lawrenceville, NJ. His passions are his grandchildren, dragon-boat racing, and astronomy.
