The Milken Institute, International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the George Washington University School of Business (GWSB) are proud to welcome the third cohort of IFC-Milken Institute Fellows, the Class of 2019. This select group of 23 Fellows spans 17 countries in Africa and Asia, with representation from Central Banks, Ministries of Finance, regulatory agencies, and stock exchanges. They are economists, accountants, lawyers, and civil servants.
Launched in 2016, the IFC-Milken Institute Capital Markets Program at the George Washington University blends academic rigor with hands-on work experience in the financial industry, extensive interaction with private-sector players and market regulators, and unprecedented global networking opportunities. Fellows will complete an accredited, four-month capital markets certification program from GWSB this Fall, followed by a four-month internship with a top-tier U.S. financial or regulatory institution in the Spring. The goal of the program is to equip participants with the tools they need to help foster economic development and business opportunities in their home countries.
The 2019 cohort will benefit from enhancements to the program, including: a series of bespoke modules in financial regulation hosted by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission; tailored workshops on effective leadership; and mentoring relationships with alumni around the world. Upon graduating, they will gain access to an web-based alumni portal that centralizes online learning and continued crowdsourcing of policy solutions.
The Milken Institute, IFC and GWSB extend a warm welcome and congratulations to the new Class of 2019 with whom these organizations look forward to working over the course of the next eight months and for the rest of their careers.
